“North East England has the potential to make a significant contribution to our thriving space sector.
There are opportunities for a range of companies developing innovative products that can match the needs of the space industry.
The incubator at the North East Technology Park will build upon the growing interests in space and the role it can play to support other sectors within their local areas, both in technology developments and space-derived services.
We’re committed to nurturing business and research in this region, and showing small businesses how they can benefit from our £11.8bn space industry.”
Space Incubator Programme
The UK Space Agency has pledged funding for a North East England business incubation centre at the NETPark science park.
Funding will support start-up companies across the breadth of the space sector in North East England, providing a supportive environment to help entrepreneurs develop small companies.
Our region has a track record of success in identifying supply chain opportunities downstream getting data from space and deploying technology developed for space in a terrestrial way.
NETPark also hosts Durham University’s Centre for Advanced Instrumentation which is renowned for developing state-of-the-art items for use across a wide range of disciplines, including astronomical instrumentation.
