Invest North East England sponsors TIGA Games Industry Awards

North East England’s vibrant gaming sector will be highlighted at a top industry awards ceremony.  TIGA is Europe’s largest network of independent games developers and publishers. Its flagship event is the annual TIGA Awards ceremony.

Invest North East England (INEE) is a silver sponsor of this year’s awards, which take place in London on November 2.

INEE will sponsor and present the Large Independent Studio category as part of its commitment to showcase the strength of the gaming sector in the North East.

A special INEE lunch will also be held prior to the awards for gaming companies  who are interested in learning more about the region’s thriving gaming sector.

The lunch will be attended by key industry figures who will share their positive experiences of operating a gaming studio in the North East of England.

Guests include Frankie Cavanagh, founder, game designer and artist at Pocket Money Games, and Cumron Ashtiani, founder and CEO of Atomhawk, who is also up for the TIGA Outstanding Leadership Award.

David Pattison, Inward Investment Manager at INEE, said: “The 2017 TIGA Games Industry Awards will be one of the highlights of the gaming sector calendar and we are delighted to be involved.
The North East of England has a strong, fast-growing gaming cluster. More than 50 specialist gaming companies are located in the region and are supported by over 70 university and college courses specifically designed for the gaming sector.”

“We are lucky to have such a fantastic array of specialist properties for gaming companies to locate and grow in.  The extensive talent pool for the sector along with a vibrant and collaborative gaming and tech community makes North East England a highly attractive location for games developers.

We are delighted to sponsor the TIGA Awards and look forward to sharing the unrivalled opportunities the North East offers the gaming industry.”

The TIGA Awards take place on Thursday, November 2 at the V&A Museum, London.
