The third annual North East Satellite Applications Annual Conference and Exhibition, entitled ‘Satellites Enabling a Better World’, will see around 200 delegates gather at the Hilton Newcastle in Gateshead on Thursday, March 9th.
The delegates will represent the North East’s broad business base, from key service providers and end users in industries from high tech engineering to software development companies.

The North East Satellite Applications Annual Conference and Exhibition provides businesses and organisations a rare chance to engage in person with those involved in satellite technologies.
Estimates say the UK satellite technology market will be worth about £40 billion by 2030– about a tenth of the total global market. The North East is at the forefront of this market and regional companies are developing and commercialising data-led satellite applications which are rapidly changing the way we live and interact with our environment.
Graeme Miller, Innovation Adviser at the North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence said: “The North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence has been supporting companies for over 3 years to create more and better jobs for the region by working with industry to help deliver new and disruptive applications.
“This conference is an exciting forum which raises the awareness of the opportunities in the space sector for companies in the region, including how to begin delivering into high tech supply chains, understanding new applications for products within the space industry and also understanding the support available in the North East to help along the way.
He added: “The North East is well known for its culture for innovation and entrepreneurialism, with support provided by the North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence and the world class academic expertise within the Universities of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside, companies in the region are well placed to take advantage of this significant growth opportunity.”
The ‘Satellites Enabling a Better World’ conference event will be attended by hundreds of delegates and will identify and discuss the real business opportunities within key areas: Transport, Innovation & Infrastructure; Public Health, Wellbeing & Social Care; Sustainable Cities & Communities and Drone Technology.
