A hotbed of digital talent and creativity

North East England’s software cluster is the second fastest growing in the UK which, in turn, makes us the number one location for 40% of western Europe software and IT investors.

The influx of business into our region is due to North East England being a hotbed of IT and digital talent and creativity, nurtured in our five universities in clusters throughout our region, in places such as Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle.

Firms like Scott Logic and Orchard Software are the standard bearers for our sector – with Orchard providing specialist technical solutions to the public sector, and Scott Logic delivering a holistic software service to our finance, energy and healthcare sectors.

Pioneering software firm ZeroLight, an industry leader in the development of digital showrooms and 3D web configurations for flagship stores, dealerships and online, also calls North East England home.

Important to these companies is the bringing together of industry and academia under one roof to drive new growth and innovation.
