The Next Generation of Engineers: Training on the Tyne

One of the partners behind the creation of the world’s largest wind farm – which is taking shape just 140 kilometres from the Tyne – is helping power the next generation of offshore engineers.

Equinor has partnered with Newcastle College and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership on the North East Apprenticeship Levy Transfer, which supports SMEs and the bright young minds entering the industry.

The Newcastle College Energy Academy gives apprentices access to the world’s most advanced Hybrid Reality training system and is bang in the middle of the Tyne’s thriving energy cluster. And the new levy transfer means that more of tomorrow’s workforce can access some of the best training in the world.

“The North East is leading the UK in offshore wind development and we are excited to be working with Newcastle College to develop the talent of tomorrow.”

Tom Nightingale,
North East Stakeholder Manager for Equinor.
