Description |

Greenwells Quay is one the port’s two principal river berths situated on the east side of the port estate on the south side of the River Wear. Located minutes from open sea, this facility offers over 200 metres of vessel berthing. In addition, at the south end of the quay is a unique combination of infrastructure comprising a heavy duty roll out ro-ro ramp, a load out quay and a reinforced crane slab for heavy lift cargo handling and project support. Relevant isopach analysis has been undertaken that has allowed offshore turbine installation vessels to jack up at this quay. There is over two hectares of developable land immediately behind this with hardstanding and 9,000 square metres of warehousing for material laydown, storage and fabrication. Over recent years Greenwells Quay has facilitated major project support for the offshore and renewable sectors recognising its excellent location and marine and shore side facilities. |
