IT@Spectrum, a fast growing technology company is eying expansion, after snapping up a North East base in one of the region’s most exciting new business centres.
East Yorkshire headquartered IT@Spectrum will operate its new facility at The Catalyst, Helix, under the globally recognised Canon brand, reflecting the partners’ shared passion for providing quality products and solutions, backed by outstanding customer service.
Canon Business Centre North East – operated by IT@Spectrum – will support clients with data management solutions, alongside traditional print and document services, to help businesses automate and streamline office processes. It will also advise organisations on increasing operational efficiency, from reducing operating costs to upgrading security and improving productivity.
And already the firm is set to create six new roles – a cohort that will go through the company’s Campus programme, a 12-month professional learning and development course designed by industry-leading training and sales experts.
The growing team will be led by Regional Director, Chris Stratford, who was appointed to head up the new North East centre at the end of 2020.
Chris said: “We’re really passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation, so we’re excited to be expanding the team, and in doing so, to be giving our first North East cohort an opportunity to develop their skills and join a company with limitless potential.
“We’re an ambitious business, something that is reflected in the investment in this new North East base, so this is a perfect step for anyone looking to embark on a fast-paced career, where they will work in a state-of-the-art environment and grow their skills while also helping us to grow our customer base.”
The company’s move to The Catalyst is one that Chris believes will enable the firm to develop its data strengths, collaborating with other businesses as well as the National Innovation Centre for Data, to ensure Canon Business Centre customers are supported to unlock the power of their data.
It’s a view backed by the firm’s Managing Director, Rob Cavill.
“The Catalyst is a fantastic base for us, right in the heart of Newcastle. We scoured the North East for a base for the Canon Business Centre that would be congruent with the high-tech purpose-built HQ we have in Hull, and this centre stood out by a mile.
“It’s exciting to be joining a growing cluster of businesses that are focused on unlocking the power of data in The Catalyst. That’s a core part of the Canon business, so the fact that the National Innovation Centre for Data operates out of the same building is a huge plus for us and we believe it will allow us to link up with likeminded businesses and add more value for our customers through shared learning.”
Trading through the Canon brand in the North East, the business is looking to help organisations tackle their data challenges, using it more effectively to digitise their operations.
“The pandemic has forced the pace of a digital revolution that we long knew was coming. Organisations are embracing technology and seeing how it can accelerate their transformation. Moving into the North East, where there is a diverse and exciting business community already, and placing ourselves in the heart of a centre with data at its core positions us perfectly to help organisations keen to continue their journey into a digitised future.”
The Catalyst is a £50m new business centre in the heart of Newcastle’s Helix development, a vibrant cluster that stands in the shadow of St James’ Park.
The building is managed by Oxford Innovation, the UK’s leading operator of innovation centres, and provides a hub for innovators and researchers in data to collaborate and create new companies, services and products. The Catalyst encourages collaboration and creates a supportive ecosystem for firms to grow and develop new ideas, products and services, alongside world-leading creative thinkers.
Ryan Blake, Assistant Centre Manager at The Catalyst, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Canon Business Centre North East to The Catalyst.
“As home to the National Innovation Centre for Data, we’re already a destination of choice for a dynamic cluster of likeminded businesses that are maximising the power of data. We’re looking forward to seeing the business grow, as it works collaboratively with its neighbours in The Catalyst to drive further innovation that will benefit its clients across the North of England.”
