Although our reason for initially setting up in Newcastle was the fact that both of our founders were based here, we have remained in the North East primarily because of the quality of the regional talent we have been able to attract to our team.
Newcastle has two really amazing universities, which enable us to tap into quality talent right on our doorstep.
The tech community in the North East is also very active – and growing fast.
Along with these benefits, it makes sense for us as a business to remain in the region since reasonable living costs enable our team members to enjoy a higher quality of life.
hedgehog lab
hedgehog lab was established in 2007 as a software solutions provider. Following the launch of the iPhone, however, it reshaped its business model to focus on the fast-growing mobile market. As a ‘post-PC’ technology consultancy, which now employs around 120 people, it has since worked with everyone from one-man startups to FTSE 250 companies
The business, which is headquartered in Newcastle with additional offices in London, Boston, Austin, Copenhagen and India, provides clients with a unique understanding of the mobile ecosystem, helping them develop bespoke strategies. It also has expertise in industries such as wearables, connected cars, the Internet of Things and Virtual Reality, in which it has led projects and built a number of prototypes.
