The last three years confirm that our decision to commit to the UK, and in particular to South Shields, was the right one. In a short space of time we have demonstrated Metec’s ability to support large, important and prestigious renewable energy projects throughout the UK and Europe – and much of that success is reflective of the North East workforce’s ability and attitude. Combined with the support from local councils, in particular South Tyneside, and business support we received, we are confident of a long-term future in the area.

The Metec Group was established in 2006 to further strengthen the close collaboration between two successful companies in the cathodic protection sector, Metec Italia and Wilson Walton International. Both companies boast a significant experience in the design, development and production of active cathodic protection and antifouling systems.
Metec offer the largest diverse range of cathodic protection systems available by any one supplier in the marketplace. Founded on the Wilson Walton heritage for onshore and industrial products and services, Metec UK boasts its own design team, a purpose-built foundry with 3 furnaces, its own production, finishing and QC facilities, and teams all part of its skilled and experienced workforce. Metec UK have a facility in South Tyneside and have built a strong manufacturing base in the region.
In recent months, Metec UK have been awarded two multi-million pound contracts for sacrificial anodes for the protection of major sea based construction projects. Both projects will run in parallel over the next 12 months with staged deliveries starting within weeks to suit client schedules. Metec UK’s capacity and reputation in the market place was a major factor in landing both projects, and highlights not only our global reputation and reach, but the hard work and dedication of the staff at our South Shields foundry. Both these contracts will benefit the local economy and our local supply chain partners.
