To achieve our ambitious plans to embed electronics in trillions smart objects, PragmatIC has expanded significantly in 2017 and so we needed more space to continue to develop our business. We’re growing rapidly, and we needed a suitable space as the business progresses. The new Explorer building at NETPark really is an ideal place for us.
We initially came to the North East because of the printable electronics centre, but then the access to a highly skilled workforce in the North East has been a key factor in us staying and growing within the region, as well as the great value for money provided by the office space, and access to funding.

Headquartered in Cambridge, the company span out of Manchester University in 2010 and has expanded into new purpose-built premises in the North East.
This North East operation, with a new lab and office space, is situated within NETPark (North East Technology Park) in County Durham, a unique site which is one of the UK’s premier science, engineering and technology parks for the commercialisation of cutting-edge Research & Development by major international organisations, universities and entrepreneurs.
Operating since 2010, PragmatIC employs approximately 50 staff, 25 of which are based in the region, and moved into its new premises in the North East to support the company’s rapid growth and job creation.
