Following a successful appearance on BBC’s Dragon’s Den, North East duo Gillian Robson and Katy Foxcroft teamed up with The Catalyst to open a virtual office space.
Tancream’s mission is to educate people about the risk of sun exposure and the effect it has on ageing, while providing a product that combines SPF50 and Ultra Five Star high sun protection with a gradual developing tan.
The move to The Catalyst aimed to support the company’s growth by tapping into the expanding network of ageing and tech expertise at the £50m business centre which is home to the National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA) and the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD). The team have also recently recruited the expertise of local PhD student, Jess Moor, who will work in tandem with industry leaders to provide research into in-depth evidence of the unique benefits of the product.
The business has ambitions to grow its presence in the UK market, as well as the US and South Africa where it holds patents, with the help of the hub of academia, research and industry insight in the North East.
