Viveca Biomed is a rapidly growing independent business, driven by a team who are passionate about female health. It was formed in 2018, to acquire the Contrelle Activgard brand, intellectual property and all manufacturing assets. Viveca Biomed relocated all manufacturing equipment to the UK in 2019 and set up a new purpose-built facility in the North East of England. Contrelle was re-launched to market in August 2021, starting first in the UK and resupplying the Nordic markets. In a short timeframe, these markets have seen strong growth. It’s was a successful time at Arab Health 2025 for Viveca Biomed. The business has made incredible progress from strategic development to confirming partners, and setting a launch date in less than eight weeks time.
Viveca have have built commercial relationships, met global opinion leaders and some of the leading gynaecologists, urologists and pelvic physiotherapists in Dubai. With strong support from the team at the Department of Business and Trade and Investment North East England they’ve achieved more than they could have expected in four days.
In addition to multiple meetings at Arab Health, they visited the leading hospitals in the region gaining commitments for first line usage from the experts who recognised their unique innovation and how it can change women’s lives. They have a confirmed – under contract…partner for the UAE, Magenta who have strong coverage and heritage and three partners short listed for Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The leading physicians have invited them to the major regional women’s health event in Dubai where they are launching.
It’s a great opportunity to showcase locally their leading innovation which changes life’s of women suffering from the common condition of bladder leakage. Combining this with their advanced Ashington based manufacturing unit they can demonstrate the financial and strategic benefits of Northern medical device manufacturing.
Contrelle Activgard is a unique bladder support which can stop female bladder leakage caused by stress and mixed incontinence. The disposable device is vaginally inserted to improve the angle of the bladder, provide light urethral support and stop bladder mobility, often the cause of leakage when women laugh, cough, jump or run. Contrelle is available direct and via general practitioners on prescription/ NHS approved.
It is extensively used across the NHS as a non invasive option, and provides quality of life improvements for women, and is a major environmental game changer vs the use of incontinence pads. Contrelle Activgard gets women back on the trampoline in three minutes!
