Baltic Quarter, at the heart of the region’s urban core, is one of the UK’s most exciting development opportunities. Located next to the iconic Gateshead Quays, it will be an innovation district with a dynamic environment in an urban setting. The area provides opportunities for mixed-use office, residential, leisure and ancillary retail development to support a thriving, vibrant community of entrepreneurs.

 This 14 hectare site has been earmarked as the prime location for business and office development for up to 4,000 jobs, and is an emerging business district for digital and technology driven companies. The site offers the potential for 70,000 sq m of development. The scale of Baltic Quarter is capable of providing large office floor plates, smaller office suites or can accommodate a larger user.

 Significant investment has already been made in enabling infrastructure into the site. High capacity, super-fast broadband is operated across the site.  The state-of-the art optical network supports new and emerging telecoms services and can deliver speeds of up to 40 gb/s to meet demand for high speed services to support uptake of new technologies and applications.

 The quarter is already a destination of choice for innovation clusters, high growth businesses and leading edge institutions including Northern Design Centre, PROTO: The Emerging Technology Centre, Northumbria University’s Innovate Campus and Gateshead College’s £35m Baltic Campus.

 As well as this, the council will break ground on an exciting new development of Grade A office space on the Baltic Quarter in September 2018. The 5,500m² high specification office development is designed with growing businesses in mind. These companies who could occupy half, whole or many floors.

 Baltic Quarter has UKSPA status, which combines business and academia. While the District Energy Centre provides occupants with low-cost heat and power.
