A radio frequency identification technology company, which originally spun out of Cambridge University and now works with some of the world’s largest retailers, has chosen the North East as the location of its new office.
PervasID will open a new base at NETPark, with plans to grow its team and skills both in the region and in Cambridge.
Established by Dr Sabesan Sithamparanathan, PervasID provides real time inventory location tracking across multi-country infrastructures.
Its latest innovation, TRACKMASTER 2X, can deliver near 100 percent accuracy at a range of up to 20 meters as well as locate the item with a Real Time Location System powered by AI.
The company works with brands including Stanley Black & Decker, NHS and SML.
Peter Oram, PervasID chief executive, said:
“NETPark feels like the perfect place to open our new office, there is no better place to grow than within an established tech community. It’s a real hub within the region for talent and collaboration and we really want to be part of that success story.
“I’m from the North East so I see firsthand the amazing things happening here on our door step and I’m really looking forward to seeing how we can thrive alongside other ambitious innovators.”
Oram added:
“We have big plans and the North East is a huge part of that ambition as we create new opportunities for the talent we have here in the region.”
Sarah Slaven, managing director of Business Durham, said:
“We are delighted to welcome PervasID to NETPark and are very excited that another innovative business has chosen us for its expansion plans. Their cutting-edge RFID technology perfectly complements the ecosystem of forward-thinking businesses we’ve fostered here. NETPark offers a unique environment that fuels collaboration and growth, along with access to top talent and our dedicated business support network in Business Durham.”
