A new technology centre of excellence in the North East of England has been officially opened by The Duke of York and local dignitaries. The site, developed by Pulsant, comprises offices and a security and network operations centre, located in Team Valley, Gateshead.

HRH received a guided tour of the new facilities, meeting with key Pulsant employees, partners and customers, before unveiling a commemorative plaque marking the formal opening of the office.

Pulsant is one of the UK’s leading providers of hybrid IT solutions with a core focus on datacentres and cloud services, together with IT transformation and security.

Around a quarter of Pulsant’s revenue is driven by more than 1,000 clients based in the North of England, including Newcastle United FC, Ward Hadaway and Visual Soft.

The facility at Team Valley is Pulsant’s newest technology hub and accommodates 100 staff, over 30 of which have been recruited this year. Further recruitment is anticipated in line with business growth and the provision of new services from the office in the future.

The hub focuses on networking, security and customer support services, and joins the company’s existing regional centres for excellence in Edinburgh and the south of England, all geared towards delivering and supporting high quality datacentre and cloud services.

“The opening of this new office strengthens our presence in the North East and is a further commitment to the region in terms of future job creation and investment in the local economy,” explained Marion Stewart, Chief Operating Officer, Pulsant.

“By bringing our service, support and operations teams together in one site, we’re enhancing our offering to our customers by consolidating our skills and expertise in one place, supported by a unifying culture, toolsets and facilities.

Officially opening the new building, His Royal Highness The Duke of York said: “Thank you very much indeed for welcoming me to Pulsant today, I wish you every success. It is particularly nice to be able to visit an organisation with whom we work closely, and with whom I hope we will continue to do so.”

James Rambotham CBE, Chief Executive, North East England Chamber of Commerce, said: “Pulsant is a very important player in our region’s IT community, creating highly skilled jobs and putting us at the forefront of the sector in the whole country.

“This business is also a Partner Member of the Chamber and, as such, a powerful advocate for what the North East needs to grow its economy. They help so many other businesses through their generous provision of specialist IT knowledge at Chamber events. We fully support this new centre and wish it every success.”
