Tommee Tippee set to launch new global headquarters in North Tyneside

Mayborn Group, the home of much loved baby brands Tommee Tippee and Gro, today announced that it had secured the lease on a new office building on Balliol Business Park, North Tyneside, from which it will drive its next phase of growth.

The new site, which will become the Global Headquarters for Mayborn, offers twice the footprint of its current office which is situated on the southern fringe of Cramlington, and will be fitted out to Mayborn’s specification to create a unique working environment reflecting the sector.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Mayborn’s £22m acquisition of The Gro Group and signals its commitment to global growth for the North-East success story which was first founded in 1966 following its creation of the first ‘no-spill’ toddler cup.

Steve Parkin, CEO of Mayborn said: “Mayborn has ambitious plans to grow internationally and help more Mums and Dads to embrace the rollercoaster ride of bringing up baby. In the last 12 months we have recruited over 40 people into UK based roles, acquired the Gro Company here in the UK, and our Italian distributor in Italy.  We have completely outgrown our current site and after exploring a number of options, have chosen to move to a new location at Balliol.  We hope to move in early autumn once we have implemented a very exciting fit out which reflects our brands and the customers we are here to serve.”

The move will enable Mayborn to recruit more talent to the North-East as the business continues to grow. Over 165 people, based at Cramlington are expected to move to the new site.

Commenting on the move, Patrick Melia, Chief Executive of North Tyneside Council said: “We are delighted that we have been able to support Mayborn in finding a suitable new home here in North Tyneside, securing these and future jobs for our region.  Mayborn is a North-East success story and the move will enable it to attract fresh talent to our region as well as, in time, create more high quality jobs which will enhance our local economy.”

The interior design of the new office has been developed following input and feedback from employees as well as taking inspiration from users of the products – babies and pre-schoolers. This combination promises to create a unique working environment that will support creativity and innovation, helping to create exciting new products for the next generation to enjoy.
